No more aches and pains

What a difference a day makes. Last night we had 60mph winds all night and torrential rain. It was a terrific storm. There was debris scattered everywhere before first light when the wind suddenly dropped. I took the girls out for a stroll at 5am and picked up all the wheelie bins scattered along the small narrow lanes in our town. The birds were singing, rejoicing that the heavy and violent storm had passed and they were safe.

I’ve attempted to catch up with my DM’s over the past few evenings but it’s impossible. There are just too many. One comment I do read often is that men and women over 50 appear to be suffering with many aches and pains. Because of this, they have difficulty summoning the energy or motivation to exercise. 10 years ago I would have said the same, but now I have no aches and pains (neither does my husband who is 55) and I’m bursting with energy, enthusiasm and motivation to make the most of each day.

I know diet is the key to my abundance of energy. I can’t wait to get into the sea each day and stomp along the coast path with my girls.

Many people ask me where to start with making the switch to plant based food. Firstly, I would recommend watching ‘Forks over Knives’, a documentary on Netflix. Filmmaker Kip Andersen uncovers the secret to preventing and even reversing chronic diseases, and he investigates why the nation’s leading health organizations doesn’t want people to know about it. Strange but true. It might just be the turning point for you to leave behind lifelong animal based eating habits and to try a new way of eating.

Being in my 50’s is not how I imagined it. Rather than feeling invisible I feel invincible. Rather than dull and dowdy I feel vibrant and colourful. Your 50’s and beyond can be the time of your life. Not the end of anything, but the start of a new phase of freedom and liberation.

I don’t waste any time looking back. I’m not afraid of ageing. I live in the moment and put more effort than ever before into being the best, genuine, most inspiring version of me.
