My growing lipstick collection

I am totally obsessed with this lipstick ‘Devotion’ by @muacosmetics – it is going to feature a lot.

I checked out their online store and have some more shades on their way tomorrow. I’m so excited! I’ve ordered a deep purple which I can’t wait to try.

There aren’t makeup testers/samples available in the stores anymore, so I’m on my second guess choosing the correct colour foundation. The first one I purchased is very pale, but I can use it with bronzer for a good shade. Hoping for a more natural shade closer to my natural skin, so fingers crossed!

It’s so lovely to see so many women trying the shades of lipstick I’ve mentioned in my posts for themselves. The persimmon shade from @elfcosmetics has been quite a hit. I’m so happy you like my cruelty free choices.

I don’t buy many clothes or accessories, my home and wardrobe is very minimalist. The same can’t be said for my lipstick collection which is always growing.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week. Nothing exciting to report, except I’m grateful to still be here on this wonderful planet with its abundance of rain, which gives me more snuggling opportunities with my Vizsla girls Gin and Bird when I dry them off after a very soggy walk.

What rules?

Let’s start with this perfect lipstick. ‘Desire’ by @muacosmetics

I’ve used a lot of @venicsorganic highlighter for this shot to get good light reflection but it’s really too much for normal daytime use.

I photographed it first wearing a floral dress but it needed a crisp white shirt to contrast this luscious deep purple.

I get messages from women telling me that I am doing my makeup wrong, that I’m ‘breaking the rules’.

What rules???!!!! Says who?

Wear what you want, paint your face how you like it, dance in the rain in your knickers and just be who you want to be.

There are no rules.

Don’t set boundary’s for your own creativity and enjoyment. Not everyone is going to like your choice of;makeup, clothing, spouse, house or occupation.

Your life is completely yours, to use and abuse how you choose (no I haven’t been on the wine but that did rhyme rather nicely).

People need to stop enforcing mythical limitations on others.

Rule your own life, your body is your kingdom and you are the queen!

My head is spinning

Here is another beaut of a lipstick from @muacosmetics called ‘Hush’ How perfect is this??? I really thought I wouldn’t like this shade, but straight away my husband said he loved this look on me, especially with this blouse from @massimodutti – (past season).

I’m wearing their ‘Eye Define’ soft tip felt liner which is just superb – such a good purchase!

Yesterday I went for a 2 hour hike along the coast path before Seb joined me and convinced me to do another 3 hours. The dogs were incredibly happy, but I was so thirsty (I had considered a drink from the sheep trough, but thought better of it when I saw lumps of green blanket weed and dead leaves floating on the top) when I arrived home. My friend had arrived early for supper with us so I ran around the kitchen at lightning speed to prep food for the 4 of us. I don’t normally drink midweek, but a Gin and Tonic or two were needed to speed the food along.

I’ve got so much going on at the moment my head is spinning. Here’s a few things I am working on:

Christmas Hoodie & sweatshirt collection for shopfiftysister.com + advertising etc
Designing a new kitchen for my cottage, buying all electrical items and fixtures and fittings.
Updating my website – Wow! – I am behind with this.
New looks for this feed. Planning ahead.
Responding to companies who want to work with me. More ‘No’ than ‘yes’ as not vegan friendly or cruelty free.
Building my home in Portugal (its on, its off, its on again!) updating the website for the build. Getting quotations for the construction.
Contract negotiations, accounting and head hunting assignments for our business, also updating the website.
Researching vegan cosmetics. I want to launch my own line of lipsticks, but hating how much plastic is involved – a bit depressing and concerning.
Partnering with a prize draw business to raise money for women’s causes and giveaway luxury goods for the winners.

… and I also need time for hiking!

Beauty & happiness comes from within

Many women ask for my beauty routine, but I am very hesitant to share this. So many of us want a magic pill or potion to look and feel better, but I can’t give you that. I can tell you that since switching to a vegan lifestyle 6 years ago, (which of course meant dropping dairy from my diet which had been present in every meal), my hair, skin and nails improved dramatically and my energy levels soared.

I promote cruelty free (CF) products because it’s incredibly important to me. When I started researching; veganism, the meat industry, animal testing and then the wider use of animal products, I stumbled upon some nasty information and images I simply couldn’t unsee.

My two Vizsla girls have beautiful amber eyes, crystal clear and sparkling bright. I could not imagine putting products in their eyes and watching them suffer, nor can I imagine them as food. This is why buying CF beauty products is so important.

CF products perform the same without the pain!

Then, if you are an animal lover and not just a lover of pets, it’s easy to remove any animal cruelty from your life. It’s an uplifting experience. I didn’t realise how heavy the burden of animal agriculture and abuse weighed on me, until I was no longer part of it.

For me, it doesn’t matter what you slather on the outside, beauty and happiness comes from within. I feel so much happier and more beautiful (both physically and spiritually) since making the change. I have seen so many vegan men and women looking vibrant and healthy in their 80’s, go check out @mimikirk_youngonrawfood and you will see what I mean – she is incredible and inspired me on my journey 6 years ago.
