Here is my happy place. Whenever I have been in a situation I didn’t like, I’ve imagined myself floating in this cove, with only the sounds of gentle waves lapping and birds singing.
When I relocated to Portugal 2 and a half years ago, I thought I would find another perfect happy place. I treasured moments swimming in the river, with kingfishers, turtles, frogs and the occasional visit from the white horses. But nowhere can match the magic of my little cove. It’s one of the main reasons I couldn’t stay away, so we returned last October to our little house in Devon. I couldn’t be happier, floating on the tranquil high tide.
Having a small home has so many benefits, not least that I have more time to hike and swim. Minimalism completely changed my life for the better.
