Vegan Black Sesame Seed Banana Bread

I thought I’d start with a recipe which I know everyone will love – banana bread, but with a twist. Black sesame seeds for extra protein!

A cholesterol free version of a family favorite. No eggs, milk or butter!

This is a regular afternoon treat in my home, we always have over ripe bananas hanging around. One minute they are green, the next they are gaining little brown spots – fast! I serve my sesame banana bread with fresh fruit slices, such as persimmon, orange or clementines. You can watch reels on Instagram to see the method, but it’s a just 2 separate bowls (1 wet + 1 dry) prepared and then mixed together. Add cherries or some seeds for another variation on the recipe.

If you don’t have black sesame seeds, leave them out or add different seeds instead.

Vegan Black Sesame Banana Bread

Delicious and easy vegan banana bread recipe
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 45 minutes
Servings 8

Equipment

  • Bread tin, mixing bowl x 2, spatula, teaspoon, cup

Ingredients
  

  • 2 ripes bananas
  • 1 juice of 1 lemon
  • half cup vegetable oil
  • half cup plant milk (soya, oat, rice, almond etc)
  • 1 cup soft brown sugar
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • half tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp ground black sesame seeds
  • 3 tbsp ground chia seeds
  • 1-2 cups walnuts

Instructions
 

  • Oil or line a 23 x 13 cm (9 x 5) bread pan.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 ° F / 180 ° C.
  • mash together the bananas, lemon juice, vegetable oil, plant milk, brown sugar, chia seeds and black sesame seeds and 1 handful of walnuts
  • In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda,
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and to stir as little as possible
  • Spread the batter in the prepared bread pan.
  • Sprinkle or place on the walnut pieces
  • Bake for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes
  • Let cool completely on a wire rack before removing from the pan. Cut into slices and scoff!
