Release the Rottweiler

Today is a good day! My inner Rottweiler was released in pursuit of a large unpaid client invoice which is causing me sleepless nights. I’ve mentioned it in my stories and it’s been making me very anxious.

I find it amusing when C level executives try to intimidate me with their title. I am a business owner, CEO of my own business, so there’s little which ruffles my feathers or makes me feel the slightest bit inferior …… to anyone. We are a small business, offering our clients exceptional project delivery and customer service. But a service is invisible, unlike a delivery of 50 desks which you can clearly see sitting in your office. So, in difficult times like those we are in today, payments are delayed because there is no product we can retrieve and little we can do to recover a service already provided.

But having worked my way up from the bottom, in companies of all sizes from many nations, I know how companies work and what scares the pants off them.

Mr Big Cheese CEO is no longer wearing his pants today.

Everyone takes a poop. Nobody is better than me. We all entered the world in the same way and nobody is getting out alive. I find intimidation amusing. As long as my life isn’t in danger, I do enjoy a bit of calm but forceful confrontation to defend my interests.

I look sweet and kind, which of course I am to a point… But I hate people trying to take advantage of me. That’s when the Rottweiler appears.
I learned these skills with age. Another reason ageing rocks!

Changing faces

Changing faces.

Wrinkles, age spots, scars and broken thread veins now adorn my face. Gone are the thick eyebrows and blemish free tight-fitting skin.

I receive many messages from women who hate their changing face. Slowly melting whilst their hair invades the space below their hairline, leaving it ever thinner on top.
My eyebrows need a pencil, my skin needs a good foundation, a swipe of lipstick, a wave of the magic wand of mascara, a bit of blush and dab of highlighter and I’m ready for the day. Happy with the new face which has a little more skin each year. I’m certainly not complaining, I’ve had a lot of use out of this face, it’s had quite a lot of wear and tear!

Don’t you think it’s incredible how you can guess a person’s age so easily? Most will guess within 1 year or 2 a person’s age. That’s how I know it’s a natural process I cannot and will not fight. I’m not attempting to turn back a clock which is naturally and happily advancing forward, day by day, giving me more wonderful days on this earth.

My grandma wore floral dresses (never trousers), had soft silver hair, her eyes were a little cloudy, she was short, squidgy and a soft pillow when I needed somewhere to rest my head. I adored her, and I want to be like her. She had a marshmallow belly, bingo wing arms and wore an industrial strength bra – with a stash of a folded paper tissues tucked inside, always ready to wipe away a tear when needed.

She was perfect.

Hip happy

An early morning hike along the coast path, taking a detour along the rocks for a skinny dip at high tide.
If you want to preserve your hip function, exercise is the key. I walk 3 – 8 hours per day depending on my workload. My legs are in great shape but I need to work on my upper body. I’m swimming every day in the cove to work off the wine weight I’m still trying to lose ?

I keep a check on my weight and have entered the danger zone on the scales which means more; exercise, fruit and veg and less wine and crappy food choices like bread. I don’t diet as such, I just stop saying yes to all the bad stuff and focus on fuelling my body instead.

It’s never too late to start taking care of you. ?

Anyone else still prepared to enjoy a cheeky skinny dip? ?‍♀️

Encourage quarantine silver sisters

Here’s my contribution to encourage quarantine silver sisters started by the lovely @gratefulandgray ?
My hair was dark violet, professionally stripped to almost white at the salon then left to find it’s natural sparkle.
I sometimes add temporary vegan hair colours mixed with conditioner for a soft pastel hue effect when I fancy a boost or feel like a change. ?
If you are undecided whether you should embrace your natural hair colour, the freedom from salon appointments and maintenance is so uplifting and liberating! I wish I’d never started colouring my hair. ?

Summer wardrobe in full swing

What are you celebrating today? I am celebrating the start of my annual summer wardrobe sorting session which commenced today. I always forget a few pieces of clothing, and seeing them once more makes me excited for summer. We’ve had the most glorious spring this year with sunny days every day since lockdown. This week it’s been wet and rainy which has been a bit of a shock after all the lovely warm weather. So it’s ‘goodbye’ to perfect lighting and blue skies and ‘hello again’ to cloudy days and the joy of muddy boots and wet socks.

What is your favourite colour? I love yellow, pink and navy blue but there aren’t any colours I avoid wearing except brown. I know lots of women have a colour palette they stick to, but I am very random in my colour and clothing selection as I buy whatever makes me feel happy. I avoided black for a long time when I had blonde hair but I have a new found affection for black and white since ditching the dye.

Rummaging through my summer clothes last week I found this gorgeous white blouson jacket from Zara. I don’t normally wear a lot of white, but I think thats about to change.
Which colour makes you happy and lifts your mood? For me, it’s hot pink or a lovely lemon yellow as a second choice.
